Abstract

Giwa Signals is building the NFT Bank on GIWA — a protocol in which an NFT is more than an image. Each of the 2,222 Giwa Signals aliens is paired with its own Vault: a permanent record that accumulates the Signal Points, achievements and history the alien earns. Holders put their aliens to work by staking them in the Bank and by joining Signal Stations, and every contribution is written to the alien’s Vault, which travels with the NFT whenever it changes hands.

The foundation is already running. On the GIWA Sepolia testnet anyone can claim a soulbound Signal Passport, collect Signal Points through check-ins, tasks and invites, and climb the leaderboard. The collection mints on GIWA Chain; the Bank opens after an independent security audit.

Signal Points — held by wallets today and recorded in Vaults after the mint — are planned to convert into Signals, the Giwa Signals project token (section 10). All rights reserved.

Four principles shape every part of the protocol:

  • Ownership stays with holders. Aliens, passports and staking positions are controlled by the holder’s wallet; no admin function can move them.
  • Records that can be checked. Points sit in an append-only ledger; nothing is silently edited, and every correction is visible.
  • Keys stay with users. Our servers never hold a private key — every transaction is signed in the user’s own wallet.
  • Plans are labelled as plans. Each feature carries its status: Live, Next, Planned or Research.

02

The problem: idle NFTs

Most NFTs are held, not used. Once minted, a typical NFT sits in a wallet between trades, and three things are missing:

  • No utility after mint. There is little a holder can do with the NFT itself beyond displaying or selling it.
  • No memory. What an NFT’s holders did with it is invisible unless someone traces raw transactions — the NFT carries no record of its own.
  • No coordination. Holders act alone; a community has no shared, verifiable record of who took part and how.

Giwa Signals answers all three with one idea: treat every NFT as an account that can be put to work and that remembers.

03

The Giwa Signals Bank

The Bank is the protocol layer that connects the collection, the Vaults, staking and Signal Stations. It rests on three pillars:

Vaults

Planned

Every alien is paired with its own Vault: a permanent record of the Signal Points, achievements and history that alien earns. The Vault belongs to the NFT and moves with it.

Staking

Planned

Holders stake their aliens in the Bank to put them to work. A staked alien’s Vault accrues Signal Points every day and unlocks staking-only achievements.

Signal Stations

Planned

Holders open Stations and gather crews. Stations compete in seasons, and each member’s contribution is recorded in their Vault.

How the pieces fit together

  1. 01Hold an alien. Its Vault opens at mint and is bound to that alien’s token ID.
  2. 02Stake it in the Bank. While staked, the Vault accrues Signal Points every day and unlocks staking-only achievements.
  3. 03Join a Signal Station. The alien’s contribution counts toward its Station’s season ranking, and season results are written to the Vault.
  4. 04Transfer it, and the record goes too. The new holder receives the alien with its Vault and everything it has recorded.

04

The collection

Giwa Signals is a collection of 2,222 generative pixel-art aliens. Each alien is drawn on a 64 × 64 pixel grid, rendered at 576 px, and assembled from traits across 11 categories. Generation uses a fixed seed, so the whole collection can be reproduced and checked.

Rarity. An alien’s rarity score is the sum, over its traits, of 2,222 ÷ (number of aliens that share the trait) — rarer traits add more. The full ranking and trait breakdown are published before mint, and nothing is swapped afterwards.

Mint. On GIWA Chain, with a dedicated window for whitelisted wallets before public mint. Timing depends on GIWA Chain’s own mainnet launch. Every alien’s Vault opens at mint.

05

Vaults

A Vault is the record of one alien. It is bound to the NFT’s token ID — not to a wallet — so it always belongs to whoever holds the alien. Planned

What a Vault records

EntryRecorded when
Signal Points earned by the alienEach staking day and each Station season result
Staking historyEvery stake and unstake, and the total days staked
AchievementsStaking-only achievements and Station season badges
Station membershipWhich Station the alien contributed to, per season

Rules

  • One Vault per alien. It opens at mint and can never be moved to another alien.
  • The Vault follows the NFT. When an alien is transferred or sold, the new holder receives its Vault and full record; nothing is reset.
  • Vault points and wallet points are separate. Points a wallet earns through tasks, check-ins and invites stay with the wallet; points an alien earns stay in its Vault.
  • Same integrity as today. Vault entries use the same append-only ledger and one-time credit keys as the live Signal Network (section 09).
  • Public and verifiable. Each Vault will have a public page, as every Signal Passport does today.

Phase 2: asset-holding Vaults

The ERC-6551 standard gives every NFT its own smart-contract account. A later phase may let each Vault also hold on-chain items, so an alien carries them wherever it goes. This is research today: it will only be offered after an independent audit, and only with a design that keeps the holder in sole control. Research

06

Staking in the Bank

Staking is how a holder puts an alien to work. It opens after the mint and after an independent audit of the staking contract. Planned

  1. 01Stake from the app. The alien is locked in the Bank’s staking contract. Only its owner can unstake it — no admin function can move or seize a staked alien.
  2. 02The Vault accrues. For every day the alien stays staked, its Vault is credited with Signal Points, once per alien per day.
  3. 03Achievements unlock. Staking milestones unlock staking-only achievements, recorded in the Vault.
  4. 04Unstake at any time. The design lets holders unstake whenever they like; the Vault keeps everything it has recorded.
Audit first. The staking contract is independently audited before it holds any real asset, and the audit report is published. Staking rewards are Signal Points and achievements recorded in the Vault.

07

Signal Stations

Signal Stations are crews that pick up the Signal together. They open after the mint. Planned

  • Open or join. Alien holders open a Station for free and give it a name; anyone with a Signal Passport joins one Station at a time, free of charge.
  • Seasons. Stations rank by the Signal Points their members and their members’ Vaults earn during a season.
  • Season rewards. Top Stations and their crews receive bonus Signal Points and season badges, recorded in members’ Vaults and profiles.
  • Built on today’s pieces. Station invites reuse the invite system already live on testnet, and rankings come from the same ledger.

08

The Signal Network (live)

The Signal Network is the part of Giwa Signals that runs today, on the GIWA Sepolia testnet. It is where the community forms before the mint. Live

The Signal Passport

A soulbound token that proves a wallet joined the network. Its number is the wallet’s Signal ID.

PropertyValue
StandardERC-721 with ERC-5192 (soulbound)
Per walletOne, claimed by the wallet itself
Signal IDToken ID, sequential from 1
Transfers, approvals, burnsImpossible — they always revert
Admin mintNone — nobody can create a passport for someone else
PauseStops new claims only; existing passports are unaffected
UpgradesNone — the contract is immutable

Each passport has a shareable card showing one of the 2,222 aliens. The artwork follows a fixed, shuffled order that is not linked to token numbers, so a card does not reveal which token an alien will be. The card is decorative and does not represent ownership of that alien.

These are the values currently in force. Amounts can change; a change never alters points already credited. Achievements marked 0 SP (for example First Signal) are badges only.

Fair play. Every task pays once per wallet. A Telegram account can verify only one wallet, an invite pays only when the invited wallet claims its own passport on-chain, sensitive actions are rate limited, and every manual correction is logged. The games are checked on the server: the card game is dealt there, and every Signal Flight and Signal Defender game is replayed from the player’s moves. What they pay is fixed and limited per day; a higher score never pays more.

Profiles and leaderboard

Each wallet can choose a display name (3–20 letters, numbers or underscores, unique regardless of letter case; names that could pass for the team are refused). The leaderboard ranks wallets by Signal Points; on a tie, whoever earned their first point earlier ranks higher. Every passport has a public page with its card, ready to download or share.

09

Signal Points

Signal Points (SP) are the unit of record across Giwa Signals — for wallets today, and for Vaults after the mint — and they are planned to convert into the Signals token (section 10). They are designed to be simple to audit:

  • Append-only ledger. Every credit is a new row; the database rejects edits and deletions. A balance is always the sum of its rows.
  • Credited once. Every credit has a unique source — a transaction, a day, a task, and later a Vault day or a season — so retries and replays can never pay twice.
  • Corrections are visible. Adjustments and penalties are new entries with a written reason, recorded in the admin audit log.
  • Checked before credited. Points for on-chain actions are added as soon as the transaction is in a block, after the server has read it from the chain itself.
Signal Points are testnet activity points with no current monetary value. They are planned to convert into Signals, the Giwa Signals project token; whether, when and on what terms any conversion happens is decided solely by Giwa Signals and is not guaranteed. All rights reserved.

10

The Signals token

Signals is the project token of Giwa Signals — the token that represents the project and its community. No Signals token exists yet. Planned

From Signal Points to Signals

  • Planned conversion. Signal Points are planned to convert into Signals. Points held by wallets and points recorded in Vaults both count.
  • Based on the ledger. Any conversion would use the append-only Signal Points ledger — which is why every point is credited once and every correction is visible.
  • Our decision, announced in advance. Whether, when, at what ratio and for whom any conversion happens is decided solely by Giwa Signals, and is published before it happens.
  • Legal review first. The token launches only after legal review in the places where it is offered, and its design may change to comply.

What Signals is not

  • Not a share, equity or any claim on a company.
  • No right to profits, dividends or revenue.
  • Not on sale: no Signals token exists today and no sale has been announced.

Architecture

Giwa Signals keeps ownership on-chain and keeps records in an auditable ledger. The layers:

LayerWhere it livesRole
IdentitySignalPassport contract, GIWA SepoliaSoulbound Signal ID per wallet
OwnershipCollection contract, GIWA Chain (planned)Who holds each alien
StakingBank staking contract, GIWA Chain (planned, audited)Locks and unlocks aliens for their owners

Chain syncServer-side, verify-on-submit plus a per-minute scanTurns on-chain events into ledger entries exactly once
AppWeb app at app.giwasignals.funEvery transaction is signed in the user’s wallet

Chain sync

Contract events reach the ledger in two ways that share one code path: right after a user’s own transaction (the app passes only the transaction hash; the server reads the receipt from the chain itself), and through a scan of contract logs from a saved checkpoint every minute, so nothing is missed.

  • Each event is stored once, keyed by chain, transaction and log index.
  • Events are credited as soon as their block exists, after the block hash is checked against the chain; events from blocks that were re-organised away are dropped. On mainnet, crediting waits for L1 finality.
  • Scanning resumes from its checkpoint after any interruption and adapts its batch size if the RPC rejects a range.

12

Security & trust

Contracts

  • The Signal Passport contract is immutable and its source is verified on the explorer.
  • No admin function can move, seize or mint on behalf of a holder.
  • The staking contract is independently audited before it holds any real asset; the report is published.
  • Before mainnet, contract admin roles move to a multi-signature wallet.

App and servers

  • Sign-in uses Sign-In with Ethereum (EIP-4361): a free signature bound to this website, the chain and a single-use nonce that expires after 10 minutes.
  • Sessions are httpOnly cookies; the server stores only a hash of the session token.
  • IP addresses are stored only as salted hashes, used for rate limits.
  • State-changing requests must come from this website (origin checks) and are rate limited.
  • Admin access is checked on the server for every request; every admin action is written to an append-only audit log.
  • On-chain admin actions are signed in the admin’s own wallet — the servers hold no private keys.

Risks

  • Smart contracts. Contracts can contain bugs despite testing and audits. Audits reduce this risk; they do not remove it.
  • Network. The mint, the Bank and Stations depend on GIWA Chain’s mainnet, whose timing is outside our control. Networks, RPC providers and wallets can have outages.
  • Regulation. Rules for digital assets differ by country and change over time. Features, names, the Signals token or their availability may change to comply, or may not be offered in some places.
  • Value. Signal Points, passports and test ETH have no current monetary value. Nothing guarantees that they, or any NFT, will have value in the future.
  • Plans. Anything marked Next, Planned or Research may change, be delayed or be cancelled.
